Owners' Day

September 23, 2015

The latest excitement at Dason Court was our Owner's Open Day on Sunday 20th September. For the first time in its history we had good weather although we made use of the vast amounts of covered area we are lucky enough to have here. The horse parade all went smoothly and the horses looked well. Amazingly nearly all of them have held onto their coats well for so late in September.

The excitement of the season ahead was evident when talking about plans for all the horses. After the parade everyone made their way to the marquee inside a big barn to delicious sausage and mash made by my Mum (also the Birthday girl) It was certainly a case of a lot of like-minded people talking of their hopes and dreams of the season ahead. Pleasingly, the very generous silent auction prizes in aid of Birmingham Children's Hospital and The Injured Jockey's Fund all sold well.

Plenty of hard work goes into putting on a day like this so much credit must go to Mark and the team. They enjoyed the food but not as much of the beverage that seemed to make the odd owner's horse  20lbs better by the time they were leaving. Perhaps Dutch courage is what the horses need as I know Arkle was partial to a Guinness in his evening feed. The only Guinness here was probably less than amused as she didn't get to parade but did have plenty of visitors. All in all a fantastic day with the success of which I would regard as a home 'winner'.
