The wait is over as Straits of Messina ended our win less run at Uttoxeter last week. He went so close 10 days previously and we couldn't decide whether to run so soon. But being 6lbs 'well in' meant it was very tempting and thank goodness temptation got the better of us. He was in such good form and certainly proved it by winning convincingly. There is no doubting that it was not a great contest but he could do no more. He is a horse we have always liked so we are so pleased that he is showing everyone else what we see at home. We are so delighted for his syndicate - 'Lost In Space' - who thankfully didn't get too aggravated with my titivating last week.
Other than that it has been very quiet in terms of runners although we were delighted with Foxcub at Cheltenham. In a competitive race he traveled and jumped well but was one paced at the finish. Although fifth he was only beaten 8 lengths by the winner so it was a very pleasing run. Fences might beckon for him now and he has already schooled well so he does have plenty of options.
The other equine in mates at Dason Court are coming along slowly but surely with plenty to look forward to for the future. The last word must go to Noble Mission as he may not be Frankel but he is going some way to achieving a little of what his illustrious brother did in tenaciously gritting it out in Saturday's Champion Stakes.
