There will be no complaining from me about the weather as some people continue to be left destitute by the continuing flood waters. Dason Court has been rather quiet of late with the odd runner here and there. Winners have been sparse but there is plenty to build on and look forward to with some promising runners coming up. Promising is also the word that I would use when describing Summer Sounds’ performance at Kempton last week. His owners Sir Peter and Lady Gibbings and I decided that although the ground wasn’t ideal it could be the best of what is going to be heavy ground for a while it seems. Vitally, the improvement that this half-brother to Irish Arkle hope Felix Yonger should make will be huge as we don’t wind up our bumper horses up too much and he is still only a shell of a horse. Whether he runs again this season will be very much up to him as he can be a picky eater and quite fiery so it could be a case of doing plenty of schooling with him before letting him off for the summer. Future is what it is all about and he is one that we look forward to having back next season when he will hopefully be twice the horse is at present.
